Indonesian Embassy Established Indonesian Corner at Kokshetau State University

The Indonesian Embassy in Astana, in cooperation with the Kokshetau State University, has established an Indonesian Corner containing collections of books on history, politics, economics, democracy and socio-cultural life of Indonesia at Kokshetau State University's Library, Kazakhstan, on May 11, 2018. The aim of this is to increase the awareness and bridge the knowledge gap between Kazakhstan student regarding Indonesia. Furthermore, the establishment of Indonesian corner marks the 25th Anniversary of Indonesia and Kazakhstan Diplomatic Relations.

The delivery of 126 books on Indonesia was preceded by the meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia with the Rector of Kokshetau State University, Mr. Abduzhapparov Abdumutalip Abzhapparovich. On this occasion, the Ambassador of Indonesia said that the momentum of 25 years of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Indonesia should be used for both countries to strengthen people-to-people relationships, one of which can be done by continuing to introduce both countries' culture and increase cooperation between universities. In this regard, the Ambassador also invited Kokshetau State University to visit Indonesia to implement the MoU of cooperation with Udayana University Bali which has been signed since 2015.

On the same occasion, Rector Kokshetau State University warmly welcomes the establishment of Indonesian Corner at the University which is expected to draw closer relations between Kazakshtan and Indonesian society. In addition, the Rector of Kokshetau State University also welcomed the invitation of the Embassy to visit Indonesia to follow-up the MoU of cooperation that has been built with Udayana University since 2015 and will soon send its representative to implement the MoU.

After the Meeting and Handover of Books for Indonesian Corner, the event continued with the General Lecture of the Ambassador of Indonesia with the theme "25 Years of Diplomatic Relation between Indonesia-Kazakhstan". On his presentation, the Ambassador explained about the history and various achievements of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Kazakhstan as well as the potential and future direction of the relationship between the two countries.

The event was concluded by traditional Angklung music performances by art teams from Indonesian cultural houses by playing some traditional Indonesian compositions, pop, and Kazakh folk songs. In addition, the dance team from the Indonesian culture house also performed the medley dance named "Nusantara". This mini show gained applause and festive appreciation from the students and academic community of Kokshetau State University who attended the event.
