On 31 January 2018 at the Central Asian University (CAU) in Almaty city, Indonesian Ambassador in Astana became one of the speakers in an international seminar entitled 'Contribution of Nursultan Nazarbayev to the Global Security: Kazakhstan's Chairmanship in the Security Council'. The event is part of a series of international seminars sponsored by the Kazakh government in order to disseminate Kazakhstan's chairmanship in 2017-2018 of the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Previously, similar seminar events have been held in Almaty and will be held in other cities.

The one-day seminar opened by the CAU Rector Prof. Zhumatay Aliyev was attended by approximately 800 participants from various backgrounds, including diplomatic corps, central and local government officials, academics, students and local think tanks. The speakers featured in the seminar are Pakistani Ambassador Mr. Abdul Salik Khan, Polish Ambassador Selim Hazbievic, UNHCR's Chairman of the Central Asia Office Mrs. Yasuko Oda, Nobel Peace Laureate (1985) Baigenzhin Abai Kabataevich etc.

On this conference, the Ambassador of Indonesia presented a presentation entitled Indonesia - Kazakhstan: Learning from each other's experience. In essence, the Ambassador highlights the good relations of both countries, as well as the commitment and experience of both countries in contributing to global peace and security issues, both at the global and in their respective regions. In that presentation, the Ambassador also mentioned the nomination of Indonesia as a strong candidate for the non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council 2019-2020
