Indonesia's National Agency for Combating Terrorism Visited Astana, on 24 January 2018

The National Agency for Combating Terrorism (BNPT) has made a visit to Astana to attend a meeting between BNPT and the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan. The BNPT delegation was led by BNPT Head of Komjen Suhardi Alius, accompanied by Deputy of International Cooperation of Inspector General Pol Hamidin, BNPT Bilateral Directorate Officer Kombes Kris Erlanggaaji. The BNPT held a meeting with National Security Committee (NSC) Kazakhstan led by Deputy Chairman of National Security Committee Kazakhstan Maj. Gen Nurgali Dauletbekovic Bilisbekov. Also present at the meeting were the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kazakhstan Mr. Rahmat Pramono accompanied by the Head of the Political Department Mr. Yudi Alamin. The meeting was the first meeting after the signing of the MoU in 2013 in the field of countermeasures against terrorism.

During the meeting, BNPT explained various tasks and steps undertaken by the Government of Indonesia in handling the eradication of terrorism. BNPT and NSC are determined to exchange experiences especially in anticipation of the return of Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF). Furthermore, the Government of Kazakhstan also expressed interest in to know more about the implementation of Indonesia's soft approach and proposed the upcoming meeting through the visit of the NSC to Indonesia on March 2018.

The government of Kazakhstan appreciated the Indonesian Embassy in Astana on the visit of BNPT delegation especially the meeting with the NSC and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
