Indonesian Embassy in Astana Promotes Indonesian Tourism at the Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair (KITF) 2017
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Astana promotes Indonesian tourism during the Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair (KITF) 2017 held at Atakent Exhibition Hall, Almaty, on 19-21 April 2017. KITF is the largest and the oldest annual tourism exhibition in Central Asia. At the Exhibition, the Embassy involves 1 (one) travel agency/tour operator from Indonesia, namely PT. Pacific Interindah Tour & Travel and 1 (one) Kazakhstan travel agency, Tumar Trans LLC.
At the exhibition which was held for 3 (three) days, Indonesia's 54m2 booth is designed with a minimalist theme and further highlight the aspects of ecotourism and marine-based tourism which is able to attract the attention of visitors. Travel related to the sea and beach is very popular considering Kazakhstan is a landlocked country.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, The Embassy has also arranged the business meeting for PT. Pacific Interindah with 8 tour operators in Kazakhstan such as Kompas, KazUnion, Intourist, Discovery, Europe Asia, Avrasia Travel, Marlentour, Kenes Travel, to explore opportunities of cooperation. In addition to meetings that have been arranged by the Embassy, several tour operators from Kazakhstan who have travel packages to Indonesia also spontaneously visited the Embassy booth to hold business meetings with representatives of PT. Pacific Interindah.
During the exhibition, no less than 2000 flyers and brochures regarding Indonesian tourism have been spreaded to visitors. Meanwhile, PT. Pacific Interindah Tour & Travel have been able to built contacts and agreed on a number of commitments with several tour operators from Kazakhstan to bring Kazakh tourists to Indonesia. One of the such commitment has been formalized by the signing of the MoU between PT. Pacific Interindah and Sayat Tour Kazakhstan.
KITF 2017 was officially opened by the Minister of Sports and Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, and the Mayor of Almaty, Baurzhan Baibek. In his speech, Minister of Sports and Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan conveyed the importance of the tourism industry which becames an integral part of Kazakhstan's economy. On the same occasion, Mayor Almaty mentioned that the KITF exhibition has been instrumental to the growth of Kazakhstan's domestic tourism industry.
392 companies from 31 countries, including 70 foreign travel agencies, 10 largest travel agencies in Kazakhstan, 10 airlines, and more than 50 hotels, 5 star resorts and tourist destinations was participated in KITF 2017. In addition to Indonesia, several foreign representatives in Kazakhstan also participated in KITF 2017, including the Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, Spain, India, Jordan, China, Cuba, Morocco, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, And South Korea.
Unlike in the previous years where the exhibition held without a specific theme, KITF 2017 this year takes a special theme of Medical Tourism which is currently becoming a trend in the world. This can be shown by the participation of 90 travel agency companies from 11 countries such as Germany, India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, PRC, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia and Ukraine in KITF 2017 which specifically offer Medical Tourism travel packages.
