Cooperation in Mining and Metallurgical Sector Discussed at AGMP

On March 2, 2017, Minister-Counsellor / Chargé d'affaires ad interim Mr. Yudi Alamin and First Secretary for Economic and Political Affairs Mr. Torang Pakpahan have met with Mrs. Bakhyt Manasbayeva, Deputy Executive Officer of ALE “Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises” (AGMP) - Vice-President of RALE “Union of Commodity Producers and Exporters of Kazakhstan”, to discuss the wide range of issues of mutual interest and unveil the potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade-economic field.

During the meeting, the Indonesian side was presented brief information on the objective, structure and main directions of activity of the Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AGMP).

According to Mrs.Manasbayeva, the Association’s mission is the protection of rights and legal interests of member companies of the Association, ensuring an open and constructive dialogue between the state authorities and business community. The activity of the AGMP is aimed at consolidating efforts for private entrepreneurship development in the mining and metallurgical complex of Kazakhstan based on the socially responsible business principles.

The Indonesian side underlined the importance of existing contractual-legal framework between the two countries and the necessity to fully implement the commitments and agreements envisaged therein, highlighted the issues of visa regime, logistics, transportation, infrastructure, subsoil use, trade and investments, as well as stressed the importance of promoting a direct dialogue between the Kazakh and Indonesian partners, considering Kazakhstan a strategic and leading partner among other CIS countries, with due regard to its membership in the EAEU.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed appreciation for holding productive discussions and agreed on the necessity for further expansion of partnership contacts between the two countries’ business communities.

The Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AGMP) was established in 2005 by initiative of the mining sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a support of the sectoral ministry. The Association has been accredited in the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At present, AGMP is one of the largest industrial group of Kazakhstan comprising more than 100 companies of metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, uranium and coal industry, and, in particular, the Eurasian Group of Companies, ArcelorMittal Kazakhstan JSC, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Ust-Kamekogorsk Titanium Magnesium Integrated Plant JSC, Kazatomprom NC, Bogatyr Komir LLP, Rio Tinto and etc.
