Last year Embassy of Indonesia in Astana participated in KITF 2016 involving one travel agency from Indonesia, namely PT. Pacific Interindah Tour & Travel, as well as two travel agency from Kazakhstan, namely, Tumar Trans and Bakruksveta. To attract visitors and as a form of introduction to Indonesian culture, the Embassy also made an attraction to the audience in Atakent center with traditional music and dancing groups from Indonesia. The Embassy of Indonesia's booth which is designed with an environmental theme and is decorated with various ornaments of tropical forest Indonesia received the award for best booth at KITF 2016.
Kazakhstan could be regarded as a country with a considerable source of potential tourists for Indonesia. UNWTO data in 2015 mentions that outbound tourism Kazakhstan which is measured by the number of departures Kazakh citizen to abroad stood at 10.2 million.
The Number of tourists visiting Indonesia from Kazakhstan shows a steady improvement. According to the data from BPS, until November 2016, Kazakhstan travelers who visit Indonesia amounted to around 5000 people. That figure is higher than the amount of Kazakh Tourist in 2015 and 2014 respectively which is stood at 4,204 people and 4,079 people. In addition, Since September 2015, the Indonesian government has been giving Kazakh Tourists a free short-stay visa to enter Indonesia for up to 30 days.
