Indonesian MPs Delegation Discussed Economic Cooperation with Vice Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan
On December 7, 2016, the Comission VI of the Indonesian Parliament, dealing with trading, industry, investment, small and medium-sized enterprises, state-owned companies, has discussed economic cooperation between Indonesia and Kazakhstan with Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Comission VI, chaired by Mr. Azam Azman Natawijana, was particularly interested in cooperation between Indonesia's and Kazakhstan's state owned enterprises (SOEs). Indonesian side also enquired about sectors that are open for investment in the Kazakhstan Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the procedures for getting investment license in Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Erlan Khairov, invited Indonesian SOEs to invest in Kazakhstan. Currently, Kazakhstan has over than 1000 SOEs. Among those, 700 SOEs will be privatized. Mr. Khairov also encouraged Indonesian SOEs, particularly those, who are engaged in the field of energy, to parcipate in the upcoming Astana EXPO-2017.
In conclusion of the meeting, as Indonesia and Kazakhstan still have untapped economic potential, both sides agreed that economic cooperation between Indonesia and Kazakhstan have to be fostered in the near future.
